Environmental

We are currently working towards accreditation in accordance with ISO 14001.

Andrew Mulroy Architects Ltd are committed to both protecting and enhancing the quality of the environment and as such this policy is a cornerstone of both our ethos and design process, subject to the parameters set by our client brief.

Included within this policy are the following integral aspects of the design process:

Strategic planning - Wherever possible we aim use our experience, knowledge and skills to achieve positive environmental benefits, and to minimise any adverse environmental effects.

Selection and specification of materials - We will specify materials that that minimise environmental impact. Our aim is to ensure that these materials are efficient in their consumption of energy and natural resources, and can be recycled, reused or disposed of safely. We also specify that certain deleterious materials shall not be used.

Energy conservation - During the design process we will be mindful of both the building envelope and the environmental systems within with a view to ensuring that the finished building is viable in terms of modernity, sustainability and functionality. This includes reviewing the feasibility of maximising the use of daylight rather than electric light, reducing the heating effects of direct sunlight, and seeking to ensure that environmental control systems and their energy consumption are carefully installed at the design stage.

Standards and compliance - Our aim is to create an environment wherein we comply with and wherever possible improve upon statutory standards as well as supporting those objectives identified in the relevant documents, for instance, BREEAM, Code for Sustainable Homes and CABE.

Information - This policy is readily available on the company website. Andrew Mulroy Architects Ltd practice is based on current government policy and available literature.
