Lifetime Housing

Andrew Mulroy Architects Ltd won a Commendation for this prototype housing competition organised by Velux.

The house was designed so that it could be easily modified internally to accommodate different groups of people ranging from a single family to friends sharing. The heavy-weight masonry structure provides a robust envelope to accommodate the internal changes over the lifetime of the building as well as providing passive cooling in summer.

The external skin incorporates a green roof and wall system planted with a variety of vegetation to create biodiversity where the houses are used on dense urban sites.
